Peace Garden
on Remembrance Ridge
plantings

The following is a list of the plants selected for the Peace Garden on Remembrance Ridge. This list, prepared in 1959, is likely to be similar to the suggested planting for the 1950 proposal. The intention was to obtain plants from all the countries which participated in the Allied cause during the war. All plants were to be labelled with the name and country of origin.

While there was an extensive planting program over the 2 acres (approx. 5 hectares) of the garden, many did not survive. Many did not survive under the shade of the existing large trees overhead, and more were lost over the summer droughts owing to the lack of readily available water for irrigation, and a lack of resources to manage the area..
